Our Story

Corbin and Marie met in 2004 and bought a small house in a small town where they quickly realized their love of gardening, fiber art and blacksmithing would mean they would have to purchase a bigger house for their growing family and growing dreams.

They needed lots of land for bigger gardens and bigger animals, and it had to be far enough from the neighbors so Corbin’s hammer could make as much noise as it wanted.

They wanted to raise their little girl in the country to grow up in nature like they had, and to foster her love and respect for the Earth and it’s creatures. (Even the creepy crawly ones.)

So with daughter, spinning wheel, anvil, and angora rabbit in tow they moved to an old farmhouse in need of some love, and started their new lives as farmers and artists.

After many coats of paint, lots of fencing, lots of digging and planting they’re on their way to realizing their dreams of revitalizing an old farmstead in rural Maine. They’ve also realized that the joy is in the journey and in the process, because to be a parent/farmer/shepherd/beekeeper/blacksmith/gardener/artist/small buisness owner and to have a full time job on the side means a never ending to-do list that requires you to be on call 24/7 and, of course, to have a good sense of humor. Slipping on ice in the barn with a full pocket of eggs, catching a flock of sheep who figured out they can jump over their fence, and realizing chickens can make very quick work of every tomato in the garden are all experiences that are better with a sense of humor!

They have also learned the best things cultivated in this new life are the amazing family members and farm friends they’ve made who are always there to help with a sick animal, offer advice for selling at fairs, take care of your farm so you can have a weekend off to go camping, and to just be there for a laugh around a campfire with a beer. All that and cute animals you can squish and cuddle- who could ask for more?
